Virginia Housholder (1918-
) worked for UN Relief and Rehabilitation Administration
(1945-47) and UNESCO (1947-49), after which she was with
the Bureau of International Organization Affairs of the
U.S. State Department from 1950 until her retirement in
1968. In 1977 she was recalled from retirement to serve
as U.S. member of the UN’s budgetary watch dog, the
Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions,
the first woman so elected. She was on the ACABQ in 1977-78
and 1981-1985. She was born in the United States and educated
at MacMurray College for Women, the Bradley Polytechnic
Institute, and the University of Wyoming.
