  Sven Hamrell  
   
 
 
Sven Hamrell (1928- ) was founder and executive director of the Dag Hammarskjöld Foundation (1967-95), at which he remains a senior advisor. He was chair of the Rural Advancement Foundation International, and member of the Swedish Government Commission on Humanitarian Aid, and Commission on Aid to African Refugees. He was born in Sweden and educated at Bowdoin College and the New School for Social Research in the U.S. and at Uppsala University in Sweden.
