Robert Cox (1926- ) started
work in the ILO in 1947 and retired in 1971 after serving
as director of the International Institute for Labour Studies
(1965-71). After leaving the UN he held various professorships
including at Columbia, Toronto, Yale, and the Australian
National University, and he is currently professor emeritus
of political science and social and political thought at
York University. He was born in Canada and was educated
at McGill University. His most recent book is The Political
Economy of a Plural World: Critical Reflections on Power,
Morals and Civilization.
