Paul Berthoud (1922- )
joined the UN in 1951 and held positions in New York, the
Middle East, Latin America, Africa, and Geneva before ending
his career as UNDP resident representative in Venezuela
(1981-83). He was legal adviser to UNTSO and ONUC, chief
of the Social Affairs Division in ECLA, director of UNESOB,
secretary of the Board and of the Conference and director
of Programme Support Services at UNCTAD, director of the
Fund of UNEP. After retirement he has served as a consultant
to several UN agencies and a UNITAR senior special fellow.
He headed the team assessing the feasibility of establishing
a UN Staff College. He was born in Switzerland and educated
at the University of Geneva.
