Samir Amin (1931- ) was
director of IDEP for ten years, executive director of CODESRIA
in Dakar (1973-80), and since then has been director of
the Forum du Tiers Monde (1980- ). He was born in Egypt
and educated at the Institute of Political Science and the
National Institute for Statistics and Economic Studies in
Paris. His most recent publications include Spectres
of Capitalism: A Critique of Current Intellectual
Fashions; Capitalism in the Age of Globalization:
The Management of Contemporary Society; Obsolescent
Capitalism; and The Liberal Virus.
