Adebayo Adedeji (1930-
) was executive secretary of the UN Economic Commission
for Africa from 1975 to 1991. He was also a member of the
Nigerian civil service, professor of administration at the
University of Ife, and minister for economic development
and reconstruction of post-civil war Nigeria (1971-75).
He was born in Nigeria and educated at University College
in Ibádan, Nigeria, and London and Harvard Universities.
He is currently founder and executive director of the African
Centre for Development and Strategic Studies, and member
of the Advisory Board of the UN African Futures Project.
