Thomas G. Weiss Awarded a 2016 Carnegie Fellow
On April 19, 2016, Carnegie Corporation of New York announced 33 winners from almost 200 nominees of its prestigious Andrew Carnegie Fellows in recognition of their proposed research on an array of topics in the social sciences and humanities. According to Carnegie’s press release, the Fellows are a group of established and emerging scholars, journalists, and authors whose work “distills knowledge, enriches our culture, and equips leaders in the realms of science, law, business, public policy, and the arts.” Our Director Emeritus, Thomas G. Weiss, is one recipient, who will receive up to $200,000 of support for research and writing in exploring the concept of a world without the United Nations–particularly, how the 70-year-old institution could be more creative and effective.
