Thomas G. Weiss, wood sculptor

When he is not researching or writing about international relations and international organization, Thomas G. Weiss is using chisels to create contemporary sculptures from felled trees. In contemporary international relations, as a constructivist he argues that either sovereignty or anarchy is what states make of it. “Wood is what I make of it.”   1978 Allongée 8″ x 10″ x 20″   1979 Mére et fille 3″ x 4″ x 10″ 1979 Tango 12″ x 12″ x 22″ 1980 Crèche 2″ x 2″ x 5″ 1981 Homme face au vent 3″ x 3″ x 13″ 2014 Ease 7″ x 7″ x 14″ 2014 Essentials 9″ x 9″ x 18″ 2014 Folded arms 10″ x 10″ x 20″ 2014 Graceful homage to Henry 3″ x 4″ x 9″ 2014 Relaxed Homage to Henry 2 3″ x 4″ x 13″ 2014 Kneeling and tempting 3″ x 8″ x 12″ 2015 Chicago Trio 3″ x 8″ x 16″ 2015 Danseuse 10″ x 14″ x 30″ 2015 Souffrance 11″ x 8″ x 14″ 2015 Woman whirling 3″ x 4″ x 13″ 2016 Hommage à Henri 3″ x 3″ x 6″ 2016 Knee and shin for Sure 10″ x 10″ x 22″ 2016 November 8th 13″ x 13″ x 13″     2016 Lama Sabachthani 8″ x 10″ x 14″ 2017 Magnificat mea anima dominum 9″ x 12″ x 18″ 2017 Seated suffering 3″ x 6″ x 9″ 2017 Slightly pregnant 9″ x 9″ x 16″ 2017 Some above the knee 3″ x 3″ x 6″ 2017 Standing tall 10″ x 12″ x 36″ 2017 Torso 12″ x 9″ x 24″ 2018 Greece revisited 3″ x 3″ x 9″ 2018 Yippie Hippie 3″ x 4″ x 9″ 2018 Let’s Not Dance 9″ x 10″ x 20″    2018 Trinity in the Forest 25″ x 14″ x 13″     The Huddled Mass(es) 29” x 9” x 8”
